What do caterpillars do?
Nothing much but chew and chew.
What do caterpillars know?
Nothing much but how to grow.
They just do what by and by
Will make them be a butterfly.
But that is more than I can do
However much I chew and chew.
--Christina Rossetti
Every year two or three of our elementary students recite this poem at opening ceremony. Not sure I got all the words right, but it's close. One of my favorites.
Excellent images! My garden is a Certified Monarch Waystation; and sadly, I only saw one Monarch caterpillar so far this year. There's always hope, so I'm still looking each day!
