Hometown Glory. by justaspark

Hometown Glory.

No, this isn't actually my hometown, but a small village very close to it!
It's the view from the "Kaiser-Wilhelm-Monument" at the top of the highest mountain over here! (here's another person's picture for you to imagine it: https://www.flickr.com/photos/blavandmaster/6697056597/)
I went up there this morning with my dad and uncle who did some flights with his camera drone up there... so cool!!
This is for my push by @mei_photography to take a picture with birds eye view/view from above. This was the only real opportunity I had this week. The view was a bit limited due to fog :(
Added a bit of tilt shift effect to it to make it more interesting!
@mei_photography my attempt... didn't go so well (as I wrote up there :c) :D

That's a very picturesque village. The different style roofs interest me. It looks like a lot of older houses have an A-Frame style, but the newer houses are more likely to have a flatter hip-roof style. I wonder what that signifies? Here, the steep A-Frame style is more common in areas that get so much snow that it would collapse a flatter roof. Interesting indeed.

Tilt-shift? Impressive, Jule! I'm really impressed by your eagerness to try new and challenging photo techniques.

@kannafoot Thank you Ron!
Haha, I don't know much about architecture, but I can definitely tell you that this is NOT an area which gets so much snow that any roof is likely to collapse :D
I just googled and found out this village was founded in 1033, but I guess the houses are maximum from the 18th century. Your theory that the older houses have different roofs could be right indeed, though. :)

Welches Dorf ist das denn ?
March 29th, 2014
@justaspark Hmmm, 1033. That was around the start of the Holy Roman Empire when that area was part of the Duchy of Saxony. What's the name of the village? I wonder if there's anything left there from when Bernard II was Duke.

Great view and capture, that lake looks lovely.

@annika82 @kannafoot It's called Lerbeck, a 'borough' of the city of Porta Westfalica :)

@ladymagpie Yeah it is, I should shoot there in Summer :) Thanks Heather!

@justaspark This would interest me (from the all-knowing source of knowledge: Wikipedia. LOL): "Wittekindsburg, remains of an Iron Age "oppidum" (3rd - 1st century BC) and Saxon-Frankish fort (8th/9th century AD), in the Wiehen Hills near Barkhausen."
March 29th, 2014
@kannafoot Ah! I've planned to go to the Wittekindsburg for longer time, not only because of the castle but there is also an "airport" for hang-gliders where I could try panning or something like that :) I have not heard about that fort yet but it doesn't sound far away. I'll have a look :)

@bkbinthecity Thanks!!

Such a beautiful village. Thank y ou for your challenge. I am looking forward to taking pictures for it. I love the idea of Danbo dairy you are doing. very neat. My challenge for you is to take a picture of danbo indoors with a single source of light....with only one rule...no flash allowed. Hopefully this will be fun for you...

@smithak Okay, good challenge, I'll try my best! :)
