Arriving back from my 18-day trip in the Mediterranean, I realized I hadn't taken a photo all day. After all, what could possibly be interesting about being in four countries in one day if they were all in airports? As I unpacked, I found some newly acquired mementos to add to our collections -- I collect egg cups and espresso cups when I travel, and my husband collects chickens. Initially, I plopped them on the kitchen counter but found that the light reflected off the counter. Even more tricky was trying to keep the intricate design on the Turkish cup in focus. Ultimately, I found that the small placemat helped tone down the shine from the counter that reflected off the silver cup.
@taffy -- thanks! That espresso cup is amazing in that it keeps the coffee HOT and typically, espressos tend to be room temperature by the time they are served.
@mandyj92 -- It was a work trip overall -- judging illustrations submitted for a contest, and then a series of talks given in various countries. But I'm lucky to have had some play time as well. :)
@sailingmusic@vankrey@steampowered -- thanks! @lynnb -- the chicken is iconic in Portugal, I found. My grandparents had a big one in their home, probably from the 1930s when they were there.
