@Synke told me about her Photography Meetup Group, and I was sorry to have missed their bicycling/photography trip to Poland last week but joined them when I saw that they were going to a "Photography Playground." @Zazie and I took passport/ID cards and were issued Olympus OM-D cameras to run around this three-story warehouse filled with photography-friendly art! And at the end, you get to keep the 4GB card with all your photos on it! Everyone is photographing everything and having fun -- it's normal to lie on the ground and take a selfie, or to point your camera to some far off whatever that only you find interesting, or to choose from piles of shimmery play clothes and stand in front of fan-blown tinsel.
This photo was taken in the room created by Shan Blume, and here is the write-up:
"Shan Blume laser installations are magical hybrids of architecture and sculpture walk, play with the optical illusion of a space in the room. In fact, they are formed solely of light: your apparent mass is illusory and permeable. The artist continues the sculptural approach of earlier work and expands it consistently to the room. Formally, it is the center of the polygon, which in Plato's philosophy of nature is already the smallest module of our cosmos."
@ruthhill75 -- I did get loads of photos, but I want to go back and try new ways of photographing and new settings and all that! Plus tonight is the LONG Night of Photography -- they are open nearly all night long!
@judis - it's not a tower, but rather a laser beam making a square and I'm standing in the square, looking into the light. I think you can see the setup here: http://www.shan-blume.de/
@vankrey@lynnb@taffy -- great idea to set one up in Chicago, and all around the world! Gives artists an enormously appreciative audience interacting with their art, gives Olympus a new set of fans of their cameras, and gives all of us a place to play!
sorry, just saw this now. I have a appointment close by today and planning to go at 2pm, may 2:10pm to go there. If you still see this and you have time I would be happy to meet you!
Ok, you know how people say "if there's anywhere in the world I could visit, it would be....." I don't really have many places that I feel that way about, but I'm adding this to my list!! :-)
Fav that is so psychedelic, I could get lost in this! I love how it looks so 3D and that green looks like liquids, this would look fantatic hanging on a wall!

@espyetta Right, "normal." It really struck me as funny to see all the photographer-crazy things we do in one place all around me.
