Chicago Skyline: Bookend Photo to Mark the End of Year One

@Taffy and I started with an image of Chicago, taken from her rooftop at midnight a year ago. And here we are again, a year later with a nearly SOOC shot of a very bright night of snowy fog. What a year it's been! It was my first full year of early-early "retirement" from my university professorship, so my work world moved from being centered around my office only two miles from my house to a work world of doing research and giving talks all over the world. I've been in 13 countries this year, and my passport has three sets of extra pages; it looks like a paperback book. I always took photos; but depending on internet access or the overwhelming demands of travel, I didn't upload as consistently as I photographed. Somehow, I managed to finish the year with only a couple of fillers, and only at the very end of December.

To say I learned a lot would be a gross understatement; but I have to say, "I learned a lot." I have appreciated every comment, every FAV, especially given my inconsistent pace of responding. Most of all, it's been a fun experience, and I've appreciated the 365 community enormously. I still have a lot to learn, and I will definitely stick around for Year Two. I'm looking forward to seeing how next year unfolds! Thank you, 365 community, for a great year one!
Oh Chicago, how I love you! I was born there and my mama grew up there, you know. I really hope to make it there sometime this year so that I can hopefully meet up with you and Taffy. Congrats on your year end! And I have loved getting to know you this year!! I'll keep you posted if and when I'd like to come to see if you will be around. It's such an easy trip from here and I can't believe I haven't made it yet. It's been since 2001 since I've been there. Happy New Year, Junko!!!:)

Congratulations to you! I have to say I have enjoyed your friendship immensely--strange how I just know it's real in a virtual space. Thanks for everything. I'm taking a break, but will be back. I'm going to plan that photowalk this year together. I wish it were going to be in Japan--oh, how I would absolutely cherish that, but it's not in the books. I can dream it. I can hopefully make it happen in Chicago this year. Best wishes to you and your family this year. I know it's filled with adventure and positively awesome photos. :) xoxoxoxoxox Daryl

This is such a good alignment to the one from 12/31/12! But so clear and with that mystical sky. I'm glad you pushed us to get up there in the cold and wind!

Congratulations on year one! Sorry I missed the day. I appreciate all your thoughtful comments that made me think twice. I think you were one of only a few who posted "what if you..." suggestions. Thanks. Here's to year two. Thanks again for getting me started on a new addiction.
