Taken just before sunrise in Death Valley. Our class had gone to Badwater Basin, known for these highly structured and hexagon-type of shaped ridges of salt, but in the end, I found the photographed images to be rather gritty (it's dried salt mixed with desert sand, after all) and ugly, and prefer the simplicity of this image of the new moon rising over the mountain range. Thank you for all your wonderfully supportive comments and favs on yesterday's image of the Milky Way over Death Valley!
I love this and thought I'd commented on it, but that must have been when we were looking at them on LR. The darker tones that clearly show the mountain work well, and really set off the sliver of the moon perfectly.
