St Philips Church from Lodge Alley by jyokota

St Philips Church from Lodge Alley

At last, perfect conditions! Kevin McQuade, the concierge at the Marriott Doubletree Historic District, said this was his favorite alley, and you could get a great shot of the church from here. But I went there twice, and each time, the conditions weren't right for photography -- cars parked and people standing around and talking, gray and rainy weather that washed out the view of the steeple, and then, on the third visit, a person was standing at the end of the alley and posed in a PERFECT way to add the right human touch for this photo. I almost ran down the alley to thank this person when she didn't move the entire time I shot this alley from different angles. So happy I went back to this alley over and over during my three days in Charleston!
Excellent shot and processing

Very nice! It looks like a good place to capture the church, and that lady is in a great place. :)

Patience paid off for this one! Really perfect angle and shot. I need to get up to Charleston some time since it's only 3+ hours away from me.

So good you persisted Junko, this is a lovely moody shot. The figure at the end of the alley is perfectly positioned for you.

Wow wow wow!!!!! I LOVE this one! So worth the extra effort. It's framed perfectly, with great lead-in with the cobblestones and walls. It's really really fantastic.

This is wonderful! My eye is drawn through the shot to the person leaning against the wall and then upwards to take everything else in.

So glad you did too. The added person makes for a narrative shot. My fav!

Just wonderful and especially the black and white! Charleston is one of my most favorite places . . . next to Savannah! Photographer's playgrounds!
