Thanks for all your comments on this! It was (and continues to be) so very cold outside that going out with the camera was definitely not appealing. Yet when I caught a glimpse of this scene as I came down the stairs, facing this door, I grabbed my camera to capture the scene. I've taken a few photos out this window over the years, but this very strong contrasted processing to black out the door is a first. As for the light surrounding the window, it was a reflection on the rim that is beveled outward from the leaded window. Must have just been the time of day to get that light because typically, it only reflects on part of that rim. Brrrrr . . . it's below zero in Chicago today, and projected to get colder and a snow storm blowing in over the next few days. It'll be a challenge to stay warm! (and can you believe it, @Taffy flew to the warm climate a few days ahead of me so she's missing all this arctic cold!) @bill_fe thanks for the alert that this made it to curated page because I had no clue until you told me!
