A marble fragment from a grave stele/stela of a farewell handshake depicting the deceased one and a living relative. First half of the 4th century, BC. I wandered around the Museum of Cycladic Art alone, imagining the things that Bill and Taffy would have seen three years ago when they were here. (I couldn't join them until the conference on Crete.)
What a moving depiction of departure and farewell... Junko, my heart is with you as I read your words...please know you're in my thoughts, and I wish so much I could relieve you of the pain you have to bear. Be good to yourself, dear friend...
That is such a powerful image of both life and parting. Must have been a bittersweet walk around the museum, imagining those conversations and what they would have made of the things they saw. You've been on my mind a lot lately, dear Junko. Kindest thoughts always with you from my little corner of England.
Thinking of you this weeekend as I was scanning some print film into my computer. This includes pictures from Cape Breton with pictures of a mother moose and young one.
It feels quite emotional viewing and seeing this. Forgive me if this is inappropriate, as I really don't know you. But you convey loss and meaning so effectively in what you post. When I first read your title, I thought it was you saying farewell to 365 and my heart leapt. As it is, I so look forward to seeing more - as and when you can.
Brilliant image - so powerful, so much meaning, and so strong a composition. I think being able to express emotion through images is fundamental to what it means to be a 'photographer' and your skill (and emotional impact) here shines through and is so moving! We are both with you in spirit.
Great image. There is nothing I can add to what Taffy and others have already written. Your power of expressing your feelings through photography is sidereal
