Morton Arboretum Illuminated Tree

Did you do the illuminating, or is the light already there?

Nice using of the tree as a frame for the trees behind

@tdaug80 -- the tree was lit in a holiday show called Illuminations at Morton Arboretum. I just took the photo using a fisheye 8-15mm lens for the special effect. Thanks for asking.

@jyokota I've seen photos like this that were taken with a long exposure while the photographer painted the light on with a flashlight. That's why I asked.

@tdaug80 -- I have, too. @Taffy and I tried it in the desert when we were photographing a Milky Way and we wanted to light up the tree in the foreground. Here's Taffy's attempt: http://365project.org/taffy/365/2014-12-16

I really like this a LOT! I might have cropped some of the black background a bit more, but not a lot as you want the light to stand out against the black. Another really strong image.
