From the moment I saw this, I thought of the childhood game of hopscotch. Not really all that similar, but something about the flower as the rock, and the long line with some parts wider and some narrower. A stretch, I know.
Hopscotch! Always loved that. Truthfully? I still can't resist doing it when I see the right kind of paving stones or a chalk outline some children have left behind.
I was once spotted, whilst awaiting my son outside his infant school, jumping in puddles. I was bored and it was fun. The Deputy Headmistress came out of the side door, saw me and pointed across the playground and shouted "it's you!" Everyone stopped and looked at me. She continued "he gets it from you!" I couldn't have been more proud - clearly my son was a playful challenge, like me!!
You captured the sense of textures that made the scene pop in my mind. And I hadn't thought of hopscotch, but definitely makes this whimsical! Now I'm also thinking of "hot lava" where you could only step on certain areas or you'd fall into the lava (and thus be out of the game). Cool interpretation!
