Wren guarding her house, which is about two feet from the door from which I go in and out of the porch. (side thought: that Japanese maple makes it look like autumn!)
House wrens (which I think this is vs. Carolina wren) are fierce little birds. I don't know if you recall the bird house we had that fell apart and we put back together with duct tape, but the birds in it were house wrens. They leave the coop early BUT if you're lucky you'll spot them on the ground huddled together while the parent keeps finding food for them! Loooove the maple backdrop to one of my favorite birds!!
