My friend is a Snowy Owl Whisperer. When he calls and says, Snowy Alert! I grab my camera, jump into the car and head out to meet him. 2/2 -- both times he has called me, there has been a snowy owl to see. He lives over an hour away and he has had about 11 owl sightings this season. This one was quite animated, preening, fluffing, turning his head round and round, pretending to be flying by stretching his wings, etc. I'm frustrated with my lens right now because every time I use this lens, the photos are too soft and i have to really work to try to sharpen it up a bit. And . . . it was so windy I was afraid my heavy tripod would blow over if I let go. But in any case, a sighting of a snowy owl is to be celebrated.
wonderful ....have you heard or seen that there's a snowy at Union Station in D.C.? She seems to return there each night to hunt pigeons and rats. She sits on the statue and flag poles outside the station. I've seen some great photos with the American flag in the background and the last one I saw was her sitting on top of the flag pole which has an eagle so she's sitting on an eagle statue. She usually arrives after dark so the photographers are dealing with crappy light. I haven't ventured there yet but might. Darn covid :( and the 2 nearest metro stations near me have been closed since September. They finally reopen this weekend. Love your snowy
