My get-pushed-61 partner, Rachel, asked me to take a photo with "an element of blur." It's been raining raining raining around here lately, and I've been working hard to snap my photos in between the rain to eliminate that hazy rain look. So now, instead of eliminating it, I accentuated the blur using manual focus. This is a view from my second floor flat, looking into the garden below.
PS Now that I have uploaded it, I'm thinking it's too much blur! Looks like I forgot to look through my glasses.
Wonderfully successful response to the challenge in my opinion.I absolutely love the focus in this shot,Junko! You can see the wetness on the wood of the bench..I feel like I am out in the rain.
@mzzhope -- thank you for your generosity and in being so quick to respond, just at the moment when I was filled with hesitation about having uploaded it at all!
Great! I love it. I am a big fan of artistic blur and this shot looks wonderful, dreamy and love that it feels like watching a rainy day from behind a window. Definitely fitted the challenge.
THanks for your comments, have deleted picture as you were right, should not have posted something I was not fairly happy with so will try again when I can and repost :-)
@roseolivia -- actually, I find that posting a photo and getting response/feedback to help me rethink is a good way to reassess and grow, or try something else, etc. I'm sorry you took your photo down . . . it would have been interesting to see multiple variations of it. I hope I wasn't too harsh with my numerous ideas . . .
Heehee -- laughed at your comment about glasses. I always struggling with how much blur is enough and when it goes over the line. I like blur shots I see on the site, but they are hard to create, I find. I think this is a good one overall, but agree, a little less blur would have worked too.
This is close to what everything is like in my life without my glasses. :) I love blur in a photo, especially when I get a close up of a bug's eye, but not the rest, so there's one thing in focus, but the rest is more abstract and tonal. DOF can help with that. I know there are also editing programs that can add that zoom effect, but I imagine the get pushed is really about creating it with the camera. Nice job!
