A Black and White Portrait

She was a great candidate for this practice session, but lessons learned by the photographer include: don't start a photo shoot at 7pm and try to use natural light inside a house without a tripod because you forgot to bring your flash. Get-pushed partner David @dtigani asked me to try portraiture for this week. Still working on the idea of "low key."
@dtigani - second attempt. Still working on this . . .

I actually like the lighting in this. I think you have used it to highlight her face perfectly and love the low key feel to the rest of the image. And the b&w works really well!

@mzzhope @taffy -- I really feel the "community" when I post a photo at nearly 3am and two people respond within a minute! Thanks for your feedback!

It's a great portrait. I know what you mean about light, but low key works well in low light (but I'm guessing the tripod would be much better). I'm not steady enough, but I hate tripods. :) If you used your flash, would it still be low key? Just wondering. I was under the impression that very little light would come in on low key.

Beautiful portrait and beautiful smile, it is lovely. Low key requis a tripod most of the time, would not use a flash for low key but then it may be because for the life of me, I have no clue how to properly use my flash so never use it!

This is lovely, another natural, happy looking portrait. I really like it in B&W as the eye is not so distracted by colours.

Not sure why I didn't see this earlier but this is my favorite of the bunch. I really like the lighting, and your composition is spot on.
