My get-pushed partner challenged me to do panning, with extra points for colorful background. I'm afraid I haven't done a good job with this, but this was the best of the many attempts at this time because I was standing outside my hotel and many, many cars were slowing down to park and attend a wedding here. What I learned: higher speed or slower panning to synchronize with what you are panning would have worked better. @summerfield, thanks for the challenge, apologies for not doing better, and I promise to keep trying this because I think it's a cool thing to learn to do.
wow! that is mighty fast for you to get that gorgeous background blur. i rather like it, mind you. it is a cool thing to do. today i was doing panning with the falling leaves when we were at the trail, but sadly all were complete fail. cars are easier to pan because you can see which car you want to shoot. leaves, you have to take whatever falls off the branches. this is very good, i say it fits the brief.
@summerfield -- thanks for your generous assessment of my feeble attempt . . . I so wanted to get the car in focus. But it was cold, I didn't take a warm enough coat to St Louis, and and and and . . . all those excuses. But I really do want to keep practicing so I hope to be tagging you in more panning in the future. Thanks for the challenge!
