The net, created by the craftspeople of Nami Island, uses recycled zip line rope to emulate the illustrations in Roger Mello's book, João poor um fio. In the story, a fisherman's son has vivid dreams that are illustrated in the motif of fishing nets, but also inspired by traditional Brazilian embroidery work.
Wow -- this is so exciting that he won! He must be on Cloud 9. Your photographs of the exhibition are quire fantastic. I like all three -- the red one especially looks magical. Just wow.
