There are actually 6 lupinus species designated as the Texas state flower. The Texas bluebonnet is endemic to Texas and parts of Mexico.

@k9photo My parents were stationed at Kelly Field AFB for a while and lived in San Anton. I visited as often as I could while in college at USM. It's where I was spoiled with REAL Texas bbq and chili - ruined it for the rest. LOL!
