Hawthorn Berries by k9photo

Hawthorn Berries

"On the back of the hawthorn flower, there is a seed that grows into a green fruit. By the fall, the fruit ripens into a red orb. The fruit is called a haw. Although haws are structurally pomes, they are many times called berries due to their small size. " ( https://naturewalk.yale.edu/trees/rosaceae/cratageus/hawthorn-48 )

The red is gorgeous. I think I have these in the woods. I never knew what they were. Thank you for the link. I am going to see if it is the same.

@pamalama you should try the Seek APP as it really helps me to identify plants, trees, flowers, butterflies, and even insects. It cannot identify everything down to the exact species but it is a valuable aid in identification.

Lovely shot. They must be a great attraction to birds and butterflies. And bees, too.
