Today we gathered at Shilshole Bay to remember the life of my uncle. He passed away last month after a brief, intense battle with lung cancer. From the day he was diagnosed until the day he passed was 26 days. His family and friends gather to remember his life and tell stories of our times with him. It was amazing the number of people that were there, the number of people whose life he touched. I took this picture of his wife, my aunt (mom’s little sister) during the service. It was a very emotional day. All of his friends and family had so many amazing things to say about him. While I will miss him, I will always look back at the time we spent together with a smile on my face.
brilliant. I quick fav'd before I read the story behind the photo, and upon reading- teared up. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. This is a beautiful tribute.
Honestly, I wish I could fav it twice. I didn't notice your Aunt at first... which I think is fitting. Knowing what the day meant to her- man. Overwhelming. I think photography matters to people when it is either aesthetically appealing on its own, appeals to personal experience, or both. You did both here. Warm thoughts to your family.
