I was shooting from the hip while in town, and mostly just got bits of people..... when will I learn? At least it was just the hat I lopped off in this one.
I liked this guy, and his doggie, when he came back he had a packet of Pall Mall, assuming he was buying them for himself smoking hasn't killed him in a hurry, unless he is really 45.
I took some photos of the fish shop lady, but because I asked her she went a bit self-conscious..."Oh it will be terrible " she said, and she was right, not because she wasn't photogenic as she thought but because when she knew I was taking them her face was unnatural, and when she didn't the camera was all over the place!
@darylo this was nerve wracking lol. I could get better photos if I was bolder. but as this guy was quite unsteady on his feet its appropriate that it is on a lean I tell myself, pity about the hat. but I love the dog barking its little head off!
ha ha - no, not 45 - but a truly wonderful face on this great old guy !! really like the angle of the camera & the frantic but barking on mute - makes it look a little conspiratorial but as if he's in on it too :o)
Very authentic capture and that dog in the car (seen at second view) is not amused. I find this is one of the most difficult kind of photography! I would not like to be photographed without being asked before … privacy … But those captures mostly look so interesting. And you did a great job here :o)
Love this - firstly for the way you have captured this man, he has a lovely face with a bit of spark and I reckon if he can make the effort to get out to the shops he can smoke all he wants; secondly, I love these candid shots and suck at them so great attempt!
Ok, I have to fav this! It's wonderful, tilt and all! And that dog!!!! Priceless. Just so you know, I didn't meant that all portraits had to be strangers--just an option if you wanted. I don't want it to be nerve-wracking. Ask friends or colleagues. No pressure, but dang girl, this is gooooood! :)
i love the photo u present us here - the way it is framed, the persons expression - really strong!
and it is not easy to take pictures of strangers. i think both, the person in front of camera as well as the person behind the camera need to be confident, it requires a certain level of trust between both - and that takes a little bit of time and communication. this will be the "grand challenge" i gave myself for the next few months - to practice that.
