goodnight sun by kali66

goodnight sun

An attempt at my get-pushed challenge from Paul Myers of an Ansel Adams inspired landscape with as many of the 14 tonal ranges as possible.
@webfoot from white to black and lots of shades in between, is there too much mid-dark grey though? can you recommend any web resources good for learning about the tonal zones he used?

I think you've caught many nuanced differences in the shades of gray between the white and black. Works for the challenge and the book club!

OMG! This is splendid, perhaps slightly dark but if you lightened it at all, then you've be washing out that sun, so I'd leave it like it is. What a wonderful shot and great job on the push.

Not sure if I know of any resources right off the top of my head, although I've seen a couple of books that have tonal ranges in them you could probably check.

Great job. I'm still working on mine and might not get to it until the weekend.

It is very close to the artist work. if the contrast is less, you may get more mid tones - my guess only. Suberb shot.

Beautiful landscape, Kali! I like it the way it is, dark and moody, yet striking. All those tonal ranges are just outstanding.

Would love to have this to photograph. Overall impression it leans toward a darker image yet that influences the mood. As for the tonal range, I think if you can get a hold of the actual grey scale then scan it into your software used then this can be a start. Just a thought.
