baby spiders learning how to navigate aerial tightrope

these guys were absolutely tiny, there were hundreds of them newly hatched and hanging out in the winter sun. so fun watching them through the extension tubes.
Great close up capture

You are amazing to get these tiny babies so well in focus - fav.
June 24th, 2014
@dide it was very tricky! I think I only got three out of the many which actually had enough focus. extension tubes are very difficult to use I have found
June 24th, 2014
@kali66 exactly.. too small to see and squash!
June 24th, 2014

Fantastic shot, Kali! They are beautiful little creatures! I love how you've captured them. The one on the right seems to be saying, "Just wait a minute! I'll see if it's safe!" :)

June 24th, 2014
Beautiful closeup. very well focused. They look as if they are made of glass or perhaps (at least the bodies) amber. Fav for me.
June 24th, 2014
@tracie8266 from memory not too much, very cheap on trademe, i think around $20 but these are ones that don't do autofocus, those ones are about $120, this is my son's camera canon 450d
June 24th, 2014
Their legs are just as delicate as the “rope”. I hope and quite sure that they are not crushed as I have seen in other sites.
June 25th, 2014
Those legs look really awesome! Great shot!
June 25th, 2014
@kali66 thanks for that info Kali :-)
June 25th, 2014
Favulous capture Kali
June 25th, 2014
Amazing, what you can do with extension tubes. These look more like around 13 - 15 mm because of it. I got a used set that do auto focus for around $60 at a local camera store.
June 25th, 2014
Great photo. Sorry I am so late getting back to you. I was thinking maybe you could do a sport photo - whatever you can find.
June 25th, 2014
