Niwareka was beaten by her husband Mataora and fled to Rarohenga, the underworld, He was filled with remorse and heartbreak and underwent a journey to retrieve her, having to endure moko ( tatooing) taught him empathy for the pain he had caused her. Niwareka taught mortals the arts of massage and weaving.

my get-pushed theme was a tryptich depicting "underworld" given to me by Richard @vignouse
@kali66 I saw it and then my phone rang - the story is quite chilling when things are considered - when I get a chance I will follow your link - it is eerie how it came together
@kali66 This is even more amazing than your first effort Kali - you've exceeded my wildest dreams. Kudos where it's due!
My challenge - it's been a bad fortnight - here I am commenting at 2 am and I have to be up at 7 for an early morning blood test... you will have an answer to your challenge by Sunday evening.
@vignouse thankyou, glad you find it compelling. It was a spectacularly appropriate push for me at the moment, , I was a bit taken aback at first but it certainly led me into interesting territory :)
good luck with memento mori, even if it is just a snuffed candle lol
Compelling pictures and great processing. I find myself wondering if there is any relationship between this story and that of Orpheus and Euridice, although I don't remember that Euridice was mistreated by Orpheus.
