This somewhat whimsical and now very fragile model was made by my father most probably in the late 40's or early 50's. He much admired the work of Roland Emett (Punch cartoonist, artist, inventor and builder of whimsical machines) and so he made a model himself using Emett's drawings for his inspiration and using just paper and cardboard. This model was something I could only look at as a child, never to play with, and it still 'makes me smile' when I look at it.
