When I was a teenager, my sister Mannie came here for a summer workshop on German language. We came to pick her up talked about the moon landing on television here, so I know it was July 1969. She was dismayed because some of the other participants complained about missing their soap opera. This is as I remember it--green and hilly, with shade trees on the street. @mbemis
That center building may have been my dorm that summer. I remember it was very tall with two wings. A tornado came through and we all huddled in the hallway but could feel the air moving under the door as the barometer dropped so low. I think Lawrence must be the hilliest place in all of Kansas. It was fun to be a Jayhawk for a summer. @cejaanderson
