Male Indigo Bunting by kathyladley

Male Indigo Bunting

One of the most brilliantly colored birds of North America, this sparrow-sized bird likes disturbed habitats such as weedy fields and rural areas. The indigo Bunting is actually more cyan-blue than indigo, but at one point during the mating season, the male's face turns indigo before it goes purple. It is considered one of the most cheerful songbirds of North America. (Bird ID)

What an extraordinary coloured bird! It almost looks a bit unnatural and wonder if you have upped the saturation a tad? Nicely captured!

@marshwader They are that blue especially the males during mating season. For now I don’t really process much. I shoot in jpeg and let iphoto do automatic processing. I have wanted to photograph these birds but they are so small and fast it is difficult. Lately I have seen them at the top of trees singing. This is why I love photography. it makes me look at everything with new eyes.
