Birdwatching

Duchess is entertained by some poor blackbirds in our yard. They are braving the Nordic winter that has turned out to be rather freezing this year.

I always feel sorry for birds in the winter. Somehow feathers just don't seem like they would offer much protection from the cold, compared to a nice fur coat.

@gardencat They are gamblers really. Blackbirds are migratory around here, but some individuals decide to stay. If it goes well, they get to start their nesting season early, if it goes bad, well...
