Not really, but isn't everyone a little bit Irish on St Patrick's Day? I'm not sure why I liked this shot over other better ones I had for today because it's not technically good, but there's something about their slight movement in it...
I have to say..... being half Irish myself...... that the Irish would never wear a hat like that..... even on St. Patrick's day :)
Although I always remember seeing Thin Lizzy back in the late 70's when phil Lynott asked the audience.
"Is there anybody out there with a bit or Irish in them?"
and then asked
"Are there any ladies out there who would like to have a bit of I|rish in them?"
@swillinbillyflynn hahaha :) and I know very well that people here in the US make a big fuss about St Patrick's Day completely differently than what they actually do in Ireland. I'm not sure why it's become so crazy here!
Yep, like they are strolling down the street with Fred Astaire or something....can't put my finger on it. I'd like to experience St Patricks in Ireland...wouldn't that be an authentic experience! I love their hats and the participation in such a fun holiday!
@swillinbillyflynn It's worth experiencing - St. Patrick's day in the US. Green beer anyone? Green beads? Green anything? I had lived in the US for 14 years, and I still don't get it :)
And @kerosene - you are right, there is something in this photo that is very attractive. What I think it is for me - the lack of obvious communication between the two (no gaze, no talk, no body contact), but there is such a strong feeling that these two belong together. Same backpacks, same hats, same forward movement, same silence and being deep in their own thoughts. They just seem so comfortable next to each other, and are son nicely separated from everything else by the fog.
I like the comp and movement here too. The US really do embrace St Patricks day don't they. I've been singing Irish folk songs all week in the nursing homes I visit but apart from that I haven't seen any one celebrating it. I bet most English people don't even know it's happened!
@moreyoulessme thanks Jerri and agreed, it would be a great authentic experience!! @tracys thank you Tracy, I agree! Technically anyone can celebrate anything if they want to! ;)
@vera365 I so very much appreciate your description Vera!!! You completely put your finger on it when I couldn't.. As I read I kept thinking yes, yes, YES that's exactly it!!! Thank you for verbalizing it :) :)

I Miss Phill Lynott. :)
