There is no need to apologise to the finch - I think he has come off rather well. I would have square cropped this and taken out the right side of the picture with the distracting white thing. I would say you then had a very charming picture. Just a thought.
@helenhall thank you for your feedback Helen! The distracting white thing above the bird? Or behind? They're both white and distracting I think - you're right whichever one it is :) I couldn't crop the smaller (above the bird) white thing without cutting off the finch's tail, but I could have cloned it out... and cropped out the bigger white thing in the back! A good thought!
Oh dear. I'm not good at right and left so have totally confused you. I meant crop the left side off..the white thing being in the water leaving you with a square picture. I hadn't been bothered by the two you refer to by the bird. Sorry Caroline .. I must be more careful ... especially when making uninvited suggestions.
