The thirteen desserts were traditionally served during Christmas in the French region of Provence. My mother has been doing them ever since I can remember, and we enjoy them as our Christmastime desserts starting on December 24th at night, and lasting for at least two or three days - whenever they start running out, or we (her children and grandchildren) leave to go back home. They don't run out often since Mom always has refills handy! My sister had made her a big wooden tray painted red with thirteen compartments... The traditional desserts included things we wouldn't enjoy as much today, so they are adapted... Seen here are three of them: fruit jellies, dark chocolate covered orange peels and Jordan almonds. Oh yeah.
