MONA (Museum Old and New Art) in Tasmania has been beaming these 49 searchlights into the night sky every Saturday since it had to close in March 2020 due to Covid-19. The installation is called 'Spectra'. They say they will continue to beam Spectra each Saturday night until the Museum can reopen to the public.
It is reported to be seen far and wide, up to 100 kilometres from it's installation. On a clear night we can see it where we live from around 30-35 kilometres away.
Today I an thankful for the opportunity to see 'Spectra' in all its glory, close up, as I drove home form work tonight.
That is quite the beam - surely making a statement! My time at MONA was particularly memorable and I can't wait til we can travel again and I'll go back there.
