Bald Cypress Trail by khawbecker

Bald Cypress Trail

My sister, niece, nephew and I hiked along the Bald Cypress Trail at First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach today. It is one of the most northern swamps that contains Cypress trees and knees. Many trees are draped with Spanish Moss. We enjoyed warmer than normal temperatures with the knowledge that tomorrow is bringing much colder weather.
What a unique place to experience. The photo really captures the shadows -- lovely!

@deborahortiz @rytoonz Thank you both. It already seems like a distant memory with today's snowfall.

I think I would worry about the local wildlife, your very brave going into the swamps, England is so safe out in the countryside. A very nice capture and reflections.

@ladymagpie Thank you, Heather. It really requires no bravery in the Winter. I've heard tales of snakes showing up on the trails and the raised walkways in this swamp during the Summer, but I've not seen any myself. Yet.

This is so MAGICAL! I love the vertical lines of the trees, and slanting sunlight cutting and weaving through. There are so many layers. Fav!
