This park is across the street from the Department of the Interior in Washington, D.C. Its focal point is a statue of Major General Rawlins, who was an attorney and an aide de camp to General Ulysses S. Grant during the Civil War. He served as Secretary of War during Grant's presidency. He is best known today for hosting the best magnolia show in town each spring.
@davydo Thanks, Dave! Hey, the drum roll has started for the big cherry blossom show. It's not too late for you and Debbie to make your flight plans. :) NPS predicts peak April 8-12.
@kiwi_big_bear Thanks, Shawn. I have studied the US civil war for years. I'm currently reading the new book about Nicolay and Hay, who were Lincoln's secretaries. The book is called Lincoln's Boys. It's a great book so far.
