A view of the Korean War Veterans Memorial, which was dedicated in 1995. The United States led a United Nations coalition in support of South Korea in this war with North Korea in the early 1950s.
Hands down, the favorite memorial that we saw in Washington, D.C.! Very moving photo, Karen. You really captured the mood and sense of the whole piece!
When I was teaching I took my 11th graders to D.C. for an overnight trip. We really packed a lot of things into the trip- one thing being a tour of the War Memorials in the early evening. This was extremely haunting to see at that time and very moving. I like the odd juxtaposition of the tourist with the soldiers.
