Brompton by khawbecker

Brompton

Built in 1838 and first known as Marye House, this house overlooks the Sunken Road, which saw heavy fighting during the December 1862 Fredericksburg battle of the U.S. Civil War. Today it is the residence of the president of the Mary Washington University.
Nice photo and interesting bit of history.

Wonderful composition and perspective with great history. At first sight it reminded me the house of Robert E. Lee in Arlington.

I can see why they call it sunken road. Such a neat perspective. I like the fence, too.
