The Eagle has landed

A quick image from the Hawk Quest photo shoot today. The handler flew this bald eagle from branch to branch, and I caught him just as he landed. You can see the jesses on his legs if you look carefully. BTW, all the raptors at Hawk Quest are unable to be released into the wild. This eagle was orphaned as a chick and raised by humans. He has imprinted on humans and can't hunt for himself.
Hawk Quest is a wonderful organization whose mission is education. All the handlers are volunteers, and many have been with their birds for years. They are encyclopedic in their knowledge and eager to share. We have done this shoot twice and intend to do it again.
Great capture of this majestic bird. I feel a visit to our raptor centre coming on!

Oh wow!! That's so cool to see him looking like he's flying in a natural setting, not with a handler at all.
