I wanted to take a photo of Reuben's eye, showing the colour of it (it's blue with yellow flecks). But I couldn't get the right lighting to show it's true colour (any tips here are welcome!!). You can see the yellow but barely any of the blue, just a little at the bottom. Instead I got a picture of myself and our house, which came out pretty well.
Great shot! Eyes do seem to look a little different in photos, mostly because they show detail which is difficult to see by eye. I take my eye shots with flash and macro settings/lens.
Here are my pics of eyes: http://365project.org/alia_801/365/2011-04-20 (eye looks hazel, but photo shows up mix of green and brown - desaturated a little by 365 though), and http://365project.org/alia_801/365/2011-01-24 (blue-grey eye). The EXIF info might be handy? (I also take larger shots then crop them afterwards to magnify the detail).
That reflection is awesome! So clear and detailed! I know the few eye shots I've done I've pretty much positioned my subjects facing with their eyes looking right up toward the sun to get as much light possible, otherwise they've come out kind of orange or yellow looking.
@bk12racing@ukcam@tinatmmc@kris76@yvie@danig@canberrabec Thank you all. @alia_801 Great shots, thanks for sharing. I cropped this one down too as I don't have a macro lens. @pwallis I had him facing away from the sun, so perhaps that's why the colour was so wrong. Well I should have waited to do this shot this week! Thanks for all your comments, I will keep practicing.
