Driving Creek Railway by kiwichick

Driving Creek Railway

I took my eldest along to meet up with Julia @julzmaioro and Dianne @dide in Coromandel. After some lunch we headed up to the Driving Creek Railway, a very scenic and creative railway built by a potter named Barry Brickell in 1973, originally to access the clay on his property. Later he started charging the public for a ride to finance his back loan, and it's still going strong. It was a great place for a catch up with stunning views and so much to photograph.

On my return to the beach I took the kids down for a walk and sunset, and they couldn't stay out of the water. Here is a photo of them at the beach:

We went up on this mountain railroad and were fascinated by the commentary and history! Bought a little jar from the pottery!

@sarasotab @byrdlip It truely is a must do if you make it to the Coromandel. The story behind it is just as amazing. Here is a link for more information http://www.drivingcreekrailway.co.nz/
