Although I love the colour of this lily, it was sold to me as 'Majestic Red' (a deep, dark crimson), so I was pretty disappointed when it flowered yellow after I'd been nurturing the bulb and foliage for 2.5 years! I have a 2nd one which has yet to flower, fingers crossed it is red!
@ssimon Thanks for the compliments - it is a lovely colour, but I'm still hopeful that the other bulb will produce the dark red flowers I've been dreaming about!!
I am a fan of Calla lilies but they don't seem to grow for me. I can see a tiny splash of red!! I wonder if they are like tulip bulbs and bounce back to their original colour and ignore what the label might say.
@joluise I put a similar photo on Facebook, and someone else also commented about the splash of red! Unfortunately it is a piece of foliage around the stem, and definitely not a flower! I planted 140 tulip bulbs (see my pic 16th November) and every one was the correct colour - hope they stay true to their original colour next season.
I get your frustration. These things are often hard to reconcile; beautiful as this flower may be -- it's not what you wanted. You have captured it beautifully.
