Terns at Rakaia River mouth

We took a drive to the Rakaia River mouth (about 50kms SW of Rolleston). There has been heavy rain in the catchment area and the river was pumping - 5500 cubic metres/second and more expected. It had breached a sandbank and was pouring into the sea - chocolate brown into the beautiful turquoise sea. This was taken walking back to the car after viewing the breach in the sandbank. The Rakaia River is a braided river, and its usual flow rate is around 200 cubic metres per second. I took this 'blind' as I'd left my prescription glasses in the car and couldn't see close up - just pointed the camera in the general direction I wanted to photograph, and clicked.
Lovely shot!!! All those gulls are great!
