This is a memorial for the 185 people who lost their lives in the Christchurch Earthquake 3 years ago. The baby seat is for a 5 week old baby who died in the quake. It is set out on the corner of two streets, opposite the CTV building where 115 people perished.
I've not been into the City for a very long time, but took a friend who is visiting from Brisbane to see what it looks like. I spent a lot of time in tears. I'll post other photos I took over the next few days.
Such a graphic image. This memorial really makes an impact in "seeing" all the people who sadly lost their lives. Baby chair is heartbreaking. Well taken, can't have been easy to be there.
This really did send a shiver down my spine. Such an emotional shot. A wonderful memorial I feel, so sad that it has to be. A very powerful shot indeed.
Found this shot in Flashback Friday and had not seen this memorial before. A wonderful shot and a touching reminder. I have not been in ChCh since March 2011 - and I was so shocked by the devastation then.
@snaphappi I wasn't aware of it either Maggie - saw it as we arrived at the CTV site and thought it was seating for some memorial event. Only after I got out of the car did I realise what it was. Very emotional to see it. It was the first time we've been back since the Restart Mall opened.
