One cent coins have not been made or used in Australia since 1990 - wonder why I still have a pile
As a souvenir? :)

I also have a stash of coppers but mine aren't as shiny as yours! They look like they've just been minted.

@jools - the one on the far right was minted n 1979!

@kjarn - so it was! How did you keep them so new looking?

@jools - absolutely no idea. Today I just found a plastic bag with about 20 one cent coins in it.

Are they worth anything? If not now they will be one day!

@netkonnexion - they are worth absolutely nothing at the moment.

You do know they are still legal tender, right? You can take them to a bank and have them pay you out at the indicated value. Same as the old paper notes, too. My wife was minted in 1979 as well :)

@brizmako - I've got 19 of them, hardly worth the walk to the bank!

@kjarn Don't forget the Govt's round-up rule - you'll get a shiny new 20-c coin out of the experience. Enough for a bag of mixed lollies ;o)

@brizmako - please tell me where i can get a bag of mixed lollies for 20 cents and I'm there!

@kjarn At the Chermside Municipal Pool in 1982. While you're there can you keep your eyes out for a pair of Speedo brand goggles. I got in soooooo much trouble for losing them off my mum. Just drop them to 12 Playfield St if you find them. Thanks, Kathy. Happy time travel ;o)
