It is indeed a beautiful flower. It looks like it might be a southern magnolia, or bull bay, which is a native of the south-eastern United States but widely grown in warmer parts of the world.

i haven't seen a decent magnolia blooms in so many years. the weather around where i am had been atrocious to the plants. very nice shot, kathy. i like it. aces!
