Books I read in April by kjarn

Books I read in April

From top to bottom:

A general fiction that was good but too long and too wordy.
A mystery/thriller that I really enjoyed
A psychological thriller that was too long and too much waffle
An autobiography that was confronting, powerful and sad but not very well written

It's so inconsiderate when libraries put stickers on the book spine
So, Harlan Coben came out tops for you in April! Yes, shame about the stickers on the spines of the books.

@jamibann I think he might be my favourite author

Sudden Departures of Frasers the one too long??

Stickers are so lazy browsers don't have to read the blurb, just look for the symbol!!

@30pics4jackiesdiamond the Bryce Courtney book was too long literally and the Sudden Departure of the Frasers was too long as in the story could have been told in way less pages.

The white stickers have the authors name on them but I cloned them out. I used to take the stickers off for the monthly photo but now they are putting the stickers under the plastic cover 😩

@kjarn they put author name on a sticker when it's on the spine?? Madness!!! We have heart( romance) gun ( thriller- and very non- pc!) castle ( history) spy- glass ( crime)

I agree about Frasers book too convoluted and wordy

@30pics4jackiesdiamond we have those stickers too, I think you can see a castle (history) on the top one and I think it’s a detective on the second one. I agree it’s madness having the authors name on the spine as well

I still give you credit for reading 4 books this month. I finally got 1 book finished in just under a month🤣.

An interesting selection. For some reason I've always struggled with Harlan Coben.

You are a quick reader. I've not read Harlan Coben but seen several series on Netflix and Prime Video and enjoyed them.

Harlan Coben is a favorite of mine. So many books, so little time....

Having worked in a library I know the practical side of those stickers. One it keeps sticky fingers from walking out of the library without checking it out and believe me there are people that steal books from libraries! Secondly, if they have the number printed on them it makes putting the books back on the shelf go much quicker because all the info you need is right there (I'm not sure why these are blank though). And lastly, when they have the little picture stickers on them, like the green book has, it makes it easier for patrons who want to find mysteries, bios, romance or another kind of genre and only that kind to find those books by looking at the spine rather than pulling books out one by one (and most likely putting them back in the wrong spot). So you might not like them but librarians find them very useful! As always your prolific reading impresses me!

@olivetreeann that all makes perfect sense and I see the need for the stickers, I was just selfishly thinking about how annoying they are for photographic purposes 😂. Our books have another sticker inside the book to cover the theft issue (why anyone would want to steal from a library I really don’t know) and the reason the stickers are blank is that I cloned out the writing hoping to make them slightly less obvious although I’m not sure that was a success.
