I grabbed a piece of fabric for the background---it's my 1976 homemade graduation dress. Both the dress and my hair were embarrassingly short, but I held my head up and collected my diploma proudly. It was an all-girls' school and we all wore white dresses and flower crowns. I was a princess for a day.
