Legion is growing up! Koalas take about 4 years to reach full maturity and Legion is probably 3 point something now as he seemed to be around 2 years old when we arrived here 15 months ago.
It's not easy to age a koala without examining the teeth, but when he arrived here he had almost no scent gland on his chest and looking at photos of him then it is obvious he was a teenager.
Legion will be the father of Maxine's joey, and with their looks combined I'd say it's going to be another stunning koala!
Thanks for commenting on my photos, I read and appreciate every one.
@fionabrown I've never known one to be sunburnt but in the summer they do tend to stay under the canopy. This photo of course is in the winter sun :) Great you noticed the pink chin - this is how we tell whether a koala is anaemic or not and Legion is definitely in top condition! (koalas are a vulnerable species that may be gone from the world within 50 years at best, and we deal with a high rate of disease due to the stress of habitat loss here. so I am thrilled that with my regeneration work I have such a healthy colony - a rare thing!)
