Well it's happened - Mist has separated from Krissy and I'm considering Krissy as sub adult now, not back young. Mist was nowhere to be seen and Krissy was coping, but not happy.
There was an amazing moment too. Krissy was climbing and I was videoing. When I processed on the computer screen, lo and behold, Krissy is not a girl at all but very much a young lad. I'm still chuckling at how often I have exclaimed what a pretty girl she is. A reminder never to presume you have anything worked out in this life - there are always more surprises ahead!
Thank you for the lovely comments and awesome questions here.
@kchuk well not quite - we have been watching Krissy spend more and more time feeding in different tree branches and moving about without close attention from mum. A few things then influence mum's decision - partly it is the weight of joey. When they reach a certain weight it seems to trigger mum to know that they are 'big enough'. Another thing would be that joey is no longer drinking milk from mum - is fully weaned.
And finally, I know that Jordan was after Mist the day before this. Remember pregnancy is only 35 days. So if Mist is ready to breed again, then she will push joey away as she has to put her energy already into a new one. No rest for good girl koalas, no time to be wicked 😂🐨
Ooh dear !! I am chuckling here - but he is such a beautiful boy ! and now venturing on a more independent life however unsure he may be at the moment !

It is all very fast though you are spot on!
