She is up the very top of a tall bloodwood in her favourite area, gazing out like queen of the world. This is a spot where I could see clear through to her, but it actually took me a while to find her as from most directions she could not be seen. A moment after this photo she moved down the tree by only a metre or so, and she completely disappeared in the leaves below her. Lucky moment!
Thank you for the awesome comments on my photos.
@ludwigsdiana thank you! at the moment there are 9 in the colony, but Tucker has been here before and was here for about a week during March so there were 10 different koalas on the property. The 3 adult females are carrying joey's again hooray!
@ludwigsdiana I use nose pattern recognition to identify them, and keep records. I actually put daily data into a database system and hope that once I have 10 years or so of data it can be used in a study (I'm in my 5th year now).
It is quite painstaking, but so rewarding to see the changes in the colony in response to the regeneration of their habitat.
My facebook followers name them and it becomes quite competitive! hahaha
Sitting very relaxed in the top of a tree.... I get "prickly" all over just thinking about how far it is down to the ground..... Even so, it's a great shot :-)
