@stevejacob healthy koalas don't 😊 sadly when they become diseased and weak they sometimes do. and this is sleeping in the rain and it is quite windy 🤣
The balance is amazing but it's the ability to sit on a narrow and hard branch like that for a long time without having their butts fall asleep that really impresses me. I'd be all sore and have pins and needles if I tried.
@gardencat they have a cartilage plate across that area of the back he has all his weight on in this photo - I'd still get pins and needles but you often see them leaning back onto this plate. (fun fact, the only other mammal with this plate is another marsupial and their closest cousin, the wombat)
